ABOUT US
Africa’s Electricity Market Maker : Connecting Surplus to Solution!
Africa’s electricity landscape is marked by a stark contrast: while some countries possess a surplus of generation capacity, others struggle with chronic power shortages. The Electricity Market Maker initiative aims to bridge this divide by acting as a central, coordinated platform that matches surplus electricity supply in one region with demand in another.

This transformative platform serves as a regional electricity exchange hub, facilitating cross-border trade and integrated power pooling. It brings together utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), governments, and regional power pools such as the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP), Eastern Africa Power Pool (EAPP), and the West African Power Pool (WAPP).

-
Unlock Idle Capacity : Enable countries with excess generation—often hydro or gas-based—tomonetize their surplus instead of wasting it.
-
Address Energy Deficits : Address Energy deficit: suffering from unstable power grid.
-
Enable Grid Integration : Promote investment in interconnectors, harmonized regulatory frameworks, and regional transmission infrastructure.
-
Boost Economic Growth : Stabilized electricity supply supports industrial activity, job creation, and improved quality of life across the continent.
Key Objectives : Energy Without Borders.
